Short information FISU on Belarusian students athletes’ achievements  

             The International university sports federation (FISU) is officially created in 1949. Main purpose of the organization is development and advancement of sports among students across the world. The Federation headquarter is located in Brussels (Belgium). One of the actions is coordination of activities more than 100 national federations of student sports that are members of the organization.
Under the aegis of FISU every two years summer and winter universiade are held among students – analogy of Olympic Games.
The beginning of operations is connected with the first World Student Games which were held 1923 in Paris. French pedagogue and scientist Jean Petitjean and his companion Pierre de Coubertin has organized the competitions. A year after at the International Sport Congress of the Universities in Warsaw International confederation of students was created. It has situated till 1938 during this time 8 Games were held. 
Sport activities for students were interrupted by the Second World War, the competitions were renewed in 1947, the International Students Union was created including its sport  department; the winter games were held in the City of Davos ( Switzerland) and quite soon summer Games were held in Paris( France).
One year after a number of European countries instituted to create legal successor to the International Student Confederation.
In Luxembourg the international university sports federation started to function. Physician and mathematician Paul Shleimer was elected as the first President of FISU( has run organization for 12 years). Primo Nebiolo was the second manager of the organization; under his leadership organization has actively developed universiades and international student sport movement was developed. Since 1999 till 2011 the organization was headed by George Killian. At the Executive Committee meeting in Shenzhen Claude–Louis Gallien was elected as the President of FISU.
There are 160 associations in the structure of FISU that form the General Assembly. The Assembly meets every two years, usually during the Summer Universiade time. The period of meeting determines the future politics of FISU and its financial management. Every four years the General Assembly elects the Executive Committee members which consists of 23 members and 5 more members are members of Area Associations. The Committee represents the Board of Directors. The Committee acts with the help of General Secretary elected by stuff and different commissions. Within the scope of competitions , Universiades and World Championships for students the Secretariat, FISU commissions, Organizational Committees and International Sport Federations all the organizations are working in collaboration.
FISU also collaborates with main international sport organizations such as lOC, GAISF, WADA and also with mass media, plays an impotent role in relationship of leaders of many countries in which the Federations’ performances are held.
Interests of the Republic of Belarus are represented by the institution “the Republican center of physical education and sports for students and pupils”. Belarusian students participate in summer and winter universiades since 1993. Belarusian athletes have won 198 medals, 53 golden and, 69 silver and 76 bronze medals.
