5 continents, 85 countries and 95 participants gather in Kazan to attend the 3rd «FISU Volunteer Leaders Academy»

The Academy lasted 7 days, from 5 to 11 September. At the event's opening ceremony, among the honourable guests were FISU President Oleg Matytsin, Chairman of the State Council of the Republic of Tatarstan Farid Mukhametshin, Deputy of the Russian Federation State Duma of the 7th convocation Marat Bariev, Sports Minister of the Republic of Tatarstan Vladimir Leonov, and Deputy Minister of Youth Affairs of the Republic of Tatarstan Timur Suleymanov.

FISU President Oleg Matytsin welcomed the 2019 participants saying, “Dear friends, dear students, I am really pleased to be here today with you, our big FISU family. On behalf of all of us and FISU, I would like to thank the President of the Republic of Tatarstan Rustam Minnikhanov, all his team, and our colleagues for having organised this event for us. We have been cooperating since the preparations for Summer Universiade 2013, and Tatarstan is hosting our Forum, as the legacy of those Games, for the third time already. I believe that our future projects and gatherings have great prospects. The key word in our Forum’s title is “Leaders”: we believe in you, your enthusiasm and energy. You are our future, the future of university sports, and youth movement in your countries and globally. Returning home, you will share these values and ideas with thousands of students in your homeland. Together, we are strong, united by sports, peace, and friendship!”

Young and talented representatives of student sports organizations from all over the world came to share experience and prepare projects that will help in holding 26 World University Championships in different sports in 2020. The Republic of Belarus is among them.

In August 2020, our country will host the 9th World University Canoe Sprint Championship 2020, so participation in the Academy was especially important for our country.

For 7 days, participants had a unique opportunity to listen to lectures of professionals and participate in master classes with representatives of FISU, English First, the International Olympic Committee, as well as members of the organizing committees of future Universiades and World University Championships.

The purpose of the Academy is to create a permanent international platform for communication of volunteers and members of national federations of student sports, exchange of views and accumulated successful practices in the implementation of volunteer programs and projects for major international sports, including student events.

At the end of the Academy, all participants received the status of ambassadors of the International University Sports Federation – FISU Ambassadors.

In addition to educational, cultural and sports programs were held, during which all ambassadors were able to get better acquainted with the national characteristics of other countries and participate in various sports events.

During the Academy was acquired invaluable experience and now the main task is to share this knowledge with all sports fans and fans of a healthy lifestyle. Meeting with such different representatives of the human race and getting acquainted with their destinies teaches that nothing is impossible in life-the main thing is to go firmly to your goal and have faithful like-minded people!

Finally, we quote the words of Oleg Matytsin, FISU President: "Behind every great event there is one person who had a dream, and he was able to realize it." So dream and embody!
